Oak Street Elementary Residency
"Our School Makes A Difference"
This school of fish was created in the Spring of 2024 through an Artist in Residence program funded by the Falls Church Education Foundation. During my residency, I led ceramic workshops in which every student in grades 3-5, as well as teachers, made and painted a fish, over 675 fish! The fish were inspired by Tripps Run, the small stream adjacent to OSE which runs to the Atlantic Ocean. The fish are a metaphor for life in our waters and represent a connection of local to global.
Each fish is an affirmation of the person who made it, our connection to one another, our community, and the natural world.
